GIVEN THAT THE CONSERVATIVES PROMISE TO RETURN
PLANNING TO LOCAL DECISION MAKERS, WHY ARE 70%
OF WNJPC POSTS HELD BY TORY COUNCILLORS?
ASK THEM TO RESIGN NOW FROM WNJPC AND WNDC
TO PRESERVE THEIR POLITICAL FUTURES
This is little short of a scandal.  No wonder recent polls are showing the gap between Conservatives and Labour for the next election is all but disappearing.  The biggest, most important threat to our County at this time is the madcap Labour scheme to force 62,000 houses to be built - almost anywhere around Northampton, Daventry and Towcester without investment in proper infrastructure over the next 11 years.  AND YET 70% of Council members of the desperately undemocratic West Northampton Joint Planning Committee and West Northampton Development Corporation are Conservative!

The Tories are boasting in their campaign that they will deliver “Local Planning back to Local People”.  This message is failing to get back to their root and branch Councillors who continue to pick up their attendance fees for these diabolical committees.  The general excuse is that “We are looking after residents’ best interests by being there to scrutinise and oppose any plans.”  However, we have heard directly from some Councillors who would rather not be named that they have grave misgivings about the whole enterprise.  One says that “we will object and block any plans the WNJPU comes up with”.  In the same breath he says “...but the Government will overrule us if we don’t cooperate”.  Another says that he finds “the officers of WNJPU to be of a very poor quality.”

The longer this is allowed to continue, the more it is costing us £Millions to sustain these QUANGOS.  We urge you to approach your local Councillor and insist that he/she resigns from these deplorable committees now.  After all, there is such a short time before the next Election, the Government will be unable to react by taking over the abandoned project.  By resigning en-masse our Councillors will demonstrate to us that they are on our side and to the voters that voting Labour out of power really will represent a “Change”.  The message to the Labour Government is “Your policy is bankrupt”.
